What is CodePop?
CodePop is a free browser-based puzzle game inspired by the classic Mastermind board game. Each day a new secret 4-colour code is set and shared with everyone. You have 8 guesses to crack it, using colour-coded feedback pegs to home in on the answer.
A fresh puzzle drops at midnight every day. Your streak, wins, and guess history are all stored locally in your browser - no account, no sign-up, no email.
Why we built it
We love daily puzzle games and wanted to bring the tactile satisfaction of Mastermind to the browser in a clean, focused, modern form. CodePop strips away everything unnecessary - no ads in your face, no accounts, no push notifications - just the puzzle.
Practice mode exists because some days you just want to keep going. No limits, no pressure - just codes to crack.
How it works
- +Each daily code is deterministic - generated from today's date so everyone plays the same puzzle worldwide.
- +Your game state and statistics are stored in your browser's localStorage - they stay on your device.
- +Standard mode uses 4 distinct colours. Expert mode allows repeats, making deduction significantly harder.
- +The share feature copies an emoji grid of your guesses - no spoilers, just the pattern.
